Sports Bike Ride your bike to the beach, town shops or tour the length of the Outer Banks (about 120 miles) on our touring bike paths. In addition to the "bikeway" there are paths to take you to special destinations through some of our towns. See how we locals live. You may want to bike through the west side of the Wright Brothers Memorial or visit Manteo and the quaint waterfront. Starting from the north in Corolla bike through Southern Shores on NC 12. From Kitty Hawk south through Nags Head you can follow Highway 158 or take the more leisurely Beach Road. South of Nags Head you will be on NC 12 that takes you across the Bonner Bridge on to Hatteras Island. Ride through Pea Island Wildlife Refuge then through Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, and Hatteras Village. Rest a bit with a free ferry ride taking you to Ocracoke Island. Remember to have plenty of water, but there are restaurants, shops, and places to stay along the way. During the tourist season, please watch out for heavy traffic. Remember that our tourists are not familiar with the area and often are looking for a destination, not you. Be safe and enjoy the beauty of this magical place.
